Clogged drains are a hassle. Our Master Plumbers have been doing this for over 40 years so we can assure you, no drain cleaning service is too big or small.

Dirt and sludge can build up in pipes creating blockages that clog your drain lines and prevents waste from leaving your home. McAdams Plumbing has different methods of drain cleaning for different issues, so we can discuss with you which will best serve your needs and ensure long-term success.

We believe in cleaning the whole line, not simply clearing the blockage. We use electric power snakes to not only clear your drain, but to scrape all build up and debris from the inside of your pipe.

We work hard with our customers to educate them on what happened and why so you can avoid these same issues in the future. In some cases (such as with severe tree root issues) a drain cleaning maintenance schedule is needed in order to prevent large damages.

Main Line Maintenance Program 

On a maintenance program, McAdams Plumbing will come out twice per year, at agreed upon dates and times, to clean your main line at a discounted rate. This allows us to maintain a warranty on your main line throughout the year, protecting you from back ups.

Drain Cleaning Chemicals

McAdams Plumbing provides 2 types of Earth friendly drain cleaning chemicals that help prevent drain issues and protect the environment

BIO-CLEAN

The first of these is Bio-Clean.

Bio-Clean is a blend of bacteria and enzymes. The bacteria are natural, not genetically-engineered. The enzyme concentration is the most powerful on the market.

Bio-Clean is non-poisonous. It creates no heat, no fumes, no boiling. It does not attack live tissue nor inorganic materials, only organic wastes like grease, hair, food particles, paper, cotton & sewage.

This makes Bio-Clean safe for people, plumbing and the environment. Bio-Clean changes the waste particles into water, carbon dioxide and mineral ash which run harmlessly out of your waste system.

These elements are then available for plant life.

ROOTX

The second of these is RootX.

RootX is a foaming root-control chemical for residential and municipal sewer lines, storm pipes and septic systems.

The patented RootX formula uses the aquatic herbicide Dichlobenil. It’s non-caustic, non-fumigating and non-systemic, and it contains no diquat bromide, copper sulfate or metam sodium.

Helpful Tips for Avoiding Stoppages

No plumbing problem is more common and more frustrating than a clogged drain.

Taking simple precautions and properly disposing of waste will keep drain clogs to a minimum.

• Never pour cooking oils or grease down the kitchen sink – use a tin can, allow it to solidify and dispose of in the trash.
• Do not put coffee grounds, cornhusks, potato peels, or other fibrous and starchy foods in the garbage disposal.
• Clean floor drain strainers in tubs and showers and pop-up stoppers in sinks regularly to avoid washing clumps of hair, soap, and lotion into the drain.
• Do not use your toilet as a wastebasket. Keep a wastebasket in the lavatory for the disposal of q-tips, dental floss, disposable diapers, feminine products, etc
• Do not leave small objects on the back of your toilet-they could fall in and cause a clog.
• Avoid chemical cleaners, particularly if you have brass, steel, or cast-iron traps and drainpipes; some caustic chemicals found in these types of cleaners can corrode metal pipes which will lead to larger problems. Also, chemical drain cleaners are extremely dangerous products that can cause chemical burns to skin and permanent eye damage if not handled properly.
• Use a plunger to help clear a simple stoppage. If you are unable to clear a clogged drain with a plunger, call McAdams Plumbing at 303-465-1900 for immediate service.
