Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do I have to pay a service charge?

A: Service charges are used to cover the cost of sending a vehicle to your home. These vehicles are equipped with thousands of pounds of equipment and driven by a licensed plumbing professional. We have worked hard to keep our overhead low to minimize service charges, but unfortunately they are not something we can afford to do away with.

Many companies do not charge a service charge to come out. Often these companies are either a one-man show (home based business) or are doing one of the following: building the service charge into the labor, charging a diagnostic fee, charging a trip fee, or waiving the fee only if you accept the bid.

Q: Why should I hire a licensed professional?

A: Your plumbing system is more complicated than you may realize. Licensed plumbers spend countless hours in classrooms and in training in order to understand plumbing codes, elevations, connection requires, thermostatic pressure, proper fittings and connections, back-flow and disease prevention, etc. You don’t want to leave the safety of your family and home to an amateur.

Angie’s List has a great article on the importance of hiring a licensed, insured, and bonded professional contractor like McAdams Plumbing. We encourage you to take a look.
