“I’ll definitely be calling McAdams if I ever need a plumber again.”
Adam Carheden Review 6/26/13
Description Of Work:
Investigated slow leak – Had suggestions that didn’t cost me money and didn’t involve cutting drywall.
I have (or had) a slow leak that drips water onto my kitchen ceiling. Rick from McAdams investigated and suggested two possible causes:
1) A toilet in an upstairs bathroom that had recently been retiled. He said the flange usually starts to leak a few years after retiling if it wasn’t raised because the wax seal degrades. He suggested using the blue toilet cakes to see if this was the issue. If the leak turned my kitchen ceiling blue, we’ve found the culprit.
2) He found a ripped rubber seal on my show door that could also explain it, which was an easy repair I could do myself.
Rick had me try those two things and said if neither of them fixed or identified the leak, he would return to cut drywall to find it and not charge me the $35 inspection fee again.
I’m not sure if I’ve found/fixed the leak yet because it’s so slow that I have to wait a few months to be sure.
I was very happy that Rick was able to quickly find two potential solutions and he didn’t try to upsell me on any unnecessary work. I’ll definitely be calling McAdams if I ever need a plumber again.
